Performances using improvised text and electronic sound, 2013 – present
Live Writing is a series of site-specific performances that include improvised live electronics and a writing/performing process I call “live writing.”
My improvised writing practice is a natural outgrowth of my earlier creative focus on poetry and language. When I became interested in improvisation and writing “off-of-the-page”, I began to use text and writing as a form of performance, improvising with language in time and space.
I wanted to create performances that were resonant sonically through the physical architecture and space, but also historically, subjectively, and poetically through language, context, meaning, and place.
The “live writing” performances activated the space where language and sound overlap, the fragile negotiation of meaning through physical sensation and perception.
